A Stylist's Guide to Party Season

Somehow every weekend between now and the end of the year is fully booked. Not just booked, but over-booked. Our calendar apps are brimming with so many plans that they can become anxiety-inducing. Despite this, the result of every encounter between friends concludes with the parting phrase ‘we’ll have to meet up before Christmas’ and, while the plans are lovely, the festivities joyful and hangovers forgivable: none of them will be any fun if you have nothing to wear.

From brunch with your friends to your company’s Christmas party there is a myriad of occasions and Christmas isn’t a time to scrimp on the glam. In the midst of beginning to coordinate your Christmas shopping, the additional task of shopping for dresses and suits doesn't feel like a priority. Luckily our resident stylist, Alex, is on hand to compile Christmas looks that won’t just make you look the part, they'll make you feel it too.

"I've gone for a stand-out two piece from Neil Barrett; the Wavy Checked Jacket and Trouser. Neil Barrett takes the staple checked jacket and gives it a contemporary twist by warping the design and adding intricate detailing with the zips on the trouser. Instead of putting this suit with a dress shirt, I've paired it with a Hugo Boss roll neck. For footwear, I've chosen the chunky Alexander McQueen Metal Detail Slippers which are a little more edgy than your classic brogue. I'd finish this outfit with a Givenchy 4G Logo Scarf and Alexander McQueen Skull Half Ring. This outfit is perfect if you want to stand out while stille looking sophisticated. It works well for most parties or a even a festive date night."

"For another take on tailoring I started with Saint Laurent as a base: the Stars Shirt and the Coated Skinny Jean have perfect synergy and work well alone, or as part of a complete look. Instead of traditional tailoring, I've added the Versace Evening Jacket which has some unique harness back detailing which sets it apart from other evening jackets. To keep this look smart-casual I added the Christian Louboutin Milkylouis Junior Sneaker. To complete, add a Paul Smith Belt and the McQueen Bracelet."

"When I was pulling together this look Off-White stood out as the ideal brand to incorporate for a seasonal look due to its playful designs, use of vibrant colours and interesting fabrications. Usually, I enjoy mixing and matching brands but in this case, I've chosen an all Off White look. The main elements of the outfit are the sweater and trouser combo. With the full length, wide leg trouser I had to add a little bit of elevation with the Off-White Zip Tie Heel and matching the heel with the Montone Jitney 2.8 Bag had to be done. A little gold Isabel Marant jewellery compliments the look."

"For the second women's party season outfit I wanted to use more tailoring elements and MM6's Cream Jacket was the perfect place to start. I've paired it with the Twist Sleeveless Top by Unravel Project: if you wanted to remove the jacket the top stands out on its own with its ruched detailing and A-Line design. Adding a pleated metallic gold Isabel Marant skirt makes the outfit feel a little more festive. The KENZO Sock Ankle Boot elevates the silhouette and adding the Red(V) bag with gold hardware reflects the colour of the skirt. Finishing with Isabel Marant Jewelry completes the sparkly party-ready look."
