Most of us cannot escape a summer without a wedding. That’s not to say that weddings are bad, but as an attendee trying to find the perfect outfit can seem more like a complex equation, rather than a welcomed opportunity to shop. It’s easy to get lost in ties, tailoring and tulle. What shoes go with what suit? Is it totally off limits to wear white to a wedding? After staring at endless shades of navy we leave purchasing that all-important formal wear until the very, last, moment. To help navigate the plethora of wedding wear we’ve asked our resident stylists to put together a men’s and women’s look so that you can spend more time enjoying the big day (and the free champagne).
MEN’S LOOK BY NICK
I've kept my wedding guest look really simple with a few twists to keep things interesting. To start with I chose a classic
BOSS Jacques Shirt in white which is very lightweight: ideal for keeping you cool during the warmer weather. I’d wear it with the
LARDINI Single Breasted Wool Suit in bright blue, adding a
PAUL SMITH Narrow Plain Tie in raspberry-red to contrast with the colour of the suit.
WOMEN’S LOOK BY MAGGIE
My wedding guest look is structured, sparkly, classic and fun. The
MSGM One Shoulder Bow Dress provides a chic black base with an asymmetrical design: it has a sophisticated silhouette which is softened by a ruffle detail on the shoulder. The
ISABEL MARANT Petals Earrings are very light, making them easy to wear all day (and night) – the golden tone will reflect light as you dance and add a hint of sparkle to the outfit. I’d wear the
GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI Larissa Heels which add a 'rock and roll' spirit to the outfit with their cage effect straps.
To complete the look, I would add a
BURBERRY Large Patent Leather Grace Bag to match the black and gold theme of the outfit and a pair of
FENDI Cut-Eye Round Sunglasses which have sunshine yellow accents; mirroring the gold tones on the earrings and bag. A wedding guest must be prepared for every weather, having a sleek wrap to hand for the evening is crucial. I’d choose the
FENDI FF Knit Scarf: logos are a key trend this season and a wedding is no reason to go without your favourite monogram.
