Spotlight On: MM6 Maison Margiela X Eastpak
Founded in 1997, MM6 Maison Margiela has long been recognised for its irreverent style and unexpected pairings. Upon launching its AW21 collection, the house offered a glimpse into its unconventional approach to fashion; entering into ‘reverse mode’ with a line that bared a subtle nod to its archives. Collaborating with established leading lifestyle brand, Eastpak, the unexpected duo explore silhouettes that are “built to resist” whilst defying the status quo.
The exclusive collection is comprised of 5 styles in 3 colourways, perfectly encapsulated by the back-to-front MM6 Maison Margiela and Eastpak labels that are adorned on each design. Deconstructing codes of each signature piece, MM6 reimagines Eastpak’s most iconic shapes - turning them inside-out, back to front, and rearranged - to form striking yet functional pieces for people who 'live, work, and play in the city.'
The Mini Shoulder Bag is the epitome of this collaboration. A reflection of Eastpak’s popular ‘Orbit Bag’, the backpack embraces all the hallmarks of MM6’s distinctive style.
The Japanese Bag represents a direct interpretation of MM6’s geometric Japanese Bag. Bearing the instantly recognisable white stitching detail alongside a reversed dual MM6 and Eastpak logo that symbolises the inward-looking, out-ward-thinking collection.
