The Power of Opening Ceremony

The Power of Opening Ceremony

With a new season brings new clothes and new brands! This season at GIULIO we are welcoming Opening Ceremony.

Opening Ceremony was founded in 2002 by best friends Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. After a trip to Hong Kong, Lim and Leon decided to quit their corporate jobs and go into business together. As the brand's name takes inspiration from the Olympic Games, Lim and Leon decided that each year would be dedicated to a different country featuring designers from around the world. The Opening Ceremony store in New York quickly became a hub for the fashion-curious seeking new brands such as Havaianas, Acne Studios, Cheap Monday, and Topshop.

Fast-forward to January 2020, where Lim and Leon announced the New Guards Group, which owns brands such as Off-White and Heron Preston, would be taking over Opening Ceremony. They now focuses solely on in-house collections of ready-to-wear and accessories with Lim and Leon staying as the co-creative directors. This season expect logo-covered jackets, and branded jersey pieces.
